“The Western Engineering Competition (WEC) is Canada’s largest undergraduate engineering competition and is an annual, three-day event which involves 12 – 14 universities from across western Canada. It was founded in 1985 with the purpose of bringing talented students together to practice and exhibit their problem solving, team-building, and communication skills.”

“For the programming category, the challenge was to build an application that will help manage your time and tasks to be more efficient in getting projects done. We worked in terms of 2 – 4 to create a program that manages tasks, has a timer, note-taking capabilities and a calendar. We had 9 hours to complete our solution and hand in our deliverables.
Najashan and I created an Android mobile application. We won first place as a team of two; the second and third place teams each had 4 team members.
Only the first and second place teams qualify for the Canadian Engineering Competition, hosted in Toronto this year. Another UBC team also qualified, placing second in the Re-engineering category.”
