The Google Games is held annually in top universities around the world. The theme of the competition this year was “Journey Through Time” and all the challenges were closely related to time travel. The competition consisted of 5 different challenges, including trivia, puzzles, word association, coding problems and a building challenge. The team placed first in the Coding Challenge and 3rd overall among 20 strong UBC teams of mostly computer science students.
Shahriar Noroozi Zadeh:
“We are really proud of our achievement and glad we could represent Fizz in a computer science targeted and organized competition. We really enjoyed it, and having a well-balanced team helped us succeed in different challenges we faced that required creative problem solving skills. I’m glad we managed to finish first in the coding challenge among all the other CS teams.”
Gregory Zhang:
“The competition was a fun and whimsical mix of puzzles. I’m glad we got to show our stuff in the coding section of the competition.”
William Choi:
“The competition presented us with an intriguing set of problems ranging from puzzles to building challenges. All in all, it was an exciting experience for everyone involved. We thank UBC and Google for creating such a great opportunity.”
Kyle Ju:
“The puzzles, coding and word association sections were certainly interesting, but the most exciting part was to team up with a group of fun and competitive people.”
