MDDC Innovation Awards to 5th year FIZZers

Congratulations Abenezer Teklemariam, Carly Jones, Alejandro Baltazar, and Jae il (Chris) Lee, recipients of the MDDC Innovation Awards, which recognizes “Excellence in Biomedical Engineering Student Design and Innovation.”
Their entry KneeSense began as a project in ENPH 479.

KneeSense helps patients who have undergone knee replacement surgeries. It will be developed for clinical trials.

Chris Lee:  It was a great honour to receive this award and to showcase our work to some of the pioneers of the biomedical industry. We also received valuable feedback regarding the market opportunity for our project, which further encouraged us in bringing the project to the clinical trial phase. I had the unique experience to interact with fellow finalists during the competition. Although other finalists were from the Electrical / Computer or Mechanical Biomedical programs, given the diverse nature of Engineering Physics and the common passion for biomedical engineering, it was quite easy to get along and overall an enlightening experience.
