UBC Open Robotics places 2nd internationally at Robocup@HomeEducation Competition

Initially planned to take place in Bordeaux, France, the team was looking forward to attending their first team competition. However, due to Covid-19 policies, the competition was changed to virtual.

Despite the challenges associated with working remotely, and on such short notice, they were able to qualify as the only North American team in their league.

Congratulations on the Silver as well as the People’s Choice Awards to team members Nick Ioannidis (Engineering Physics), Osman Baalbaki (Mechanical Engineering), Simar Sidhu (Civil Engineering), Andrew Xie (first year engineering), and Clément Thorens (Computer Science Exchange student)!

Their robot can successfully take a food order, help you find an empty chair, carry your bags, and follow you through a hallway!
